“In the UK, 12 million people have hearing loss and 65% of working-age deaf people are employed, compared with 79% of the general population. An estimated 24,000 people use BSL as their main language. The Equality Act 2010 obliges employers to make adjustments (like a BSL interpreter or a speech to text reporter) and the government's Access to Work scheme provides grants for specialist equipment.

“The coronavirus pandemic has increased communication barriers for the Deaf community. The initial press conferences and TV adverts delivering vital health information as the crisis took hold had no interpreters present, leaving some Deaf people misunderstanding information. In a large-scale research about the preferred communication mode of Deaf and hard of hearing people in clinical settings in the UK, 50% of sign language users preferred to communicate via sign language interpreters, proving that interpreters are essential for patients to receive the best care.

Our aims to assist individuals with hearing impairment in a variety of ways which would benefit them immensely.
